Round
three in
The
Kenworth
Northwest
Points
Series
is
complete,
and the
veterans
showed
why they
run up
front.
The
Grays
Harbor
Mini
Raceway
looked
like a
wind
swept
plains
when
racing
commenced
Saturday
morning.
High
winds
Friday
afternoon
and
evening
did not
let up
Saturday
morning,
and
track
prep
crews
struggled
to keep
moisture
in the
track. A
typical
Grays
Harbor
morning
mist
didn't
even
help,
but the
drivers
didn't
mind.
Slipping
and
sliding
is what
they
like to
do best,
and
aside
from a
little
dust in
the
eyes,
nobody
was
worse
for
wear. 53
cars
signed
in and
when the
racing
was
complete,
every
single
driver
had just
a little
more
experience
to carry
them
into the
upcoming
Dirt Grands
event,
now less
than 90
days
away in
August.
In Jr
Novice,
Kyle
Blankenship
made the
trip
from
Port
Angeles
worthwhile,
scoring
a win by
leading
21 of
the 25
lap main
event.
Dakotah
Kindle
charged
all the
way from
fifth
place to
finish
second.
Bristol
Biggs
started
third
and
finished
third in
the red
eye
special.
Sr
Novice
had
Elisabeth
Gee in
the spot
light
for the
awards
ceremony
as each
first
time
winner
is
required
to
perform
a
victory
dance.
Sort of
like the
Roush
gong
show
where we
like to
evaluate
their
marketability,
and do a
little
teasing
at the
same
time.
Annika
Johnson
narrowly
missed
capturing
the win, leading
all but
the
final
two
circuits.
Ryan Racimo
was
awarded
third
place.
In Jr
Honda,
Justin
Sample
won the
C-main
and
Theresa
Chapin
took the
B-main
win. The
A-main
lined
out what
is
beginning
to look
like a
pattern
developing
with
Dylan
Boman
running
a great
race and
taking
the win.
Theresa
Chapin
completed
her run
from the
B-main
to
finish
second,
while
Zachary
Gee
remains
consistently
at the
front
and
rounded
out the
top
three.
Sr Honda
B-main
saw the
winner
coming
from the
pole
position
as
Josiah
Volz led
wire to
wire.
But the
race of
the day
was the
Sr Honda
A-main.
The
first 5
positions
were
running
nose to
tail,
each
waiting
for the
other to
slip up.
When the
dust
settled,
Kyle
Nations
found
himself
at the
front of
the pack
with
everyone
else in
tow.
Josiah
Volz
finished
second,
and
Jason
Reed
used
every
bit of
the
racing
surface
to
battle
his way
from the
back two
separate
times,
eventually
settling
for
third.
TJ
Hartman
continues
to test
setups
for the
Dirt
Grands
event in
August,
and
winning
Lt 160
is
starting
to look
like an
old
habit.
Nicki
Hartman
continues
to
impress
as well
with a
fine
second
place
finish
behind
her
older
brother,
and vows
to win
before
long.
Garret
Johnson
crossed
the line
third
after
leading
the
first
half of
the race
from his
pole
position.
Allison
Journey
looks to
be the
one to
beat in
Heavy
160 this
year as
she won
again.
Tyler
Graddy
once
again
came up
just
short,
finishing
a strong
second.
Defending
class
champion
Jessica
Sprague
finished
where
she
started
in third
place,
and
coined a
new
phrase
"A
Jessica
moment!"
Briggs
W/F has
only
seen one
winner
this
year,
and
Allison
Journey
has not
lost a
main
event in
any of
her
classes
so far.
Karly
Logan
improved
greatly
from her
heat
race
struggles,
and
found
the
handle
to
finish
second.
Garret
Johnson
started
on the
pole for
his
third
time and
class of
the day,
and once
again
could
only
manage a
third
place
finish
for the
main
event.
Round 4
of the
Kenworth
Northwest
Points
Series
has been
cancelled
as club
members
prepare
to make
some
improvements
to the
facility
for the
upcoming
States
Race
event
over
Memorial
Day
weekend.
If work
gets
completed
in time,
racers
will get
an
opportunity
to hot
lap and
fine
tune
their
setups.
With
work
complete,
hot laps
should
get
started
around
2:00PM.
As
always,
admission
is free.
See you
in Elma!
